McKenna's Position on Celtic

The Ipswich boss described the Glasgow giants as "a really big football club" but stressed he is "deeply involved" of a "extensive rebuilding" with the Championship side.

The 39-year-old assumed control of Portman Road in recent years and guided the team to the English top flight with back-to-back promotions, but they won just a handful of victories last season as they were relegated back to the Championship and they currently sit twelfth place in England's second tier.

"I have not had such conversations," the London-born ex- Northern Ireland young player said when questioned about being on the candidate list.

"This isn't a matter I have considered seriously, or where any portion of my concentration is currently.

"I have a special job here at a remarkable team. And we're at a crucial phase of the season. Anything external hasn't reached my radar."

Background and Contractual Aspects

Reports indicate that the manager would be open to speaking to Celtic given his childhood support.

"During youth, we all have our affinities," he said when asked about those. "It's unlikely all people has to go around and declare what they were, but of course it's a massive football club."

The coach agreed to a fresh multi-year deal in 2024 and was questioned about his alleged £5m release clause.

"In every manager's contract, there are provisions," he replied. "I don't know what my specific terms are and, were I informed, I wouldn't disclose you regardless!

"I approach this role like I will remain Ipswich manager forever. I understand that's not invariably going to be the situation, but I will consistently do my best as while I remain in position."

The Welsh Coach's Situation

Bellamy played for Celtic on temporary transfer from Newcastle United in 2005, but the former Wales forward is minded to complete the ongoing global tournament qualification, a position that would practically eliminate the mid-forties from assuming the Glasgow position.

Wales are presently in third place in their World Cup group behind group toppers Belgium and runners-up North Macedonia.

Wins over the minnows and North Macedonia in November would book their position in the final qualifying round, but they are all but assured of making those, due to a productive European competition campaign, even if they not finish as Group J runners-up.

Considering his present stance, the Wales manager, whose agreement expires after the European Championship, would be unavailable until after the play-offs at the minimum.
