Russian President Vladimir Putin Pledges Uninterrupted Oil Deliveries to India in Defiance of American Pressure

These remarks came during a summit where both heads of state met in the Indian capital and declared their partnership were “resilient to outside influence.”
A Statement Aimed at the Western Countries
The statement, issued after the annual summit, appeared to be targeted at Washington, which have tried to urge New Delhi into curtailing its close links with Moscow. “Our nation is a reliable supplier of fuel and everything needed for the growth of India’s economy,” he remarked. “Moscow stands willing to keep guaranteeing the steady flow of fuel for the booming Indian economy.”

Questioning Washington's Stance
In the lead-up to the meeting, via a TV appearance, Putin had challenged Washington's stance regarding India's dealings with Russia. He argued, “When Washington has the right to buy our uranium, how can you deny India enjoy the same privilege?”
The visit marked his first journey to India after the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, and the two nations engaged in a deliberate effort to project that the bond between the heads of state remained intact.
A Personal Greeting
Taking an notable gesture, Modi met Putin right off the plane. Both leaders shared a warm hug as longtime companions before having a closed-door supper on Thursday evening.
The Indian prime minister later described India's partnership with Russia as “a guiding star” and noted it was “built on reciprocal esteem and profound confidence.”
Strengthening Strategic Ties
The bilateral summit produced a number of key agreements regarding defence and trade relations. A major outcome was the signing of an joint economic plan aimed at 2030, which sets a goal to boost mutual trade to one hundred billion dollars each year by the end of the decade.
Furthermore vowed to recalibrate their defence ties. Although Russia remains India's largest supplier of defence equipment, this role has declined in recent years as India aims to widen its procurement.
Their communique stressed plans for the collaborative manufacturing of sophisticated military systems, though direct mention of deals for the Sukhoi Su-57 were left out.
Overall, Moscow and Delhi restated that amid the “ongoing challenging, strained, and unpredictable global landscape, Russian-Indian ties stay durable to foreign influence.”
