Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. He was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
