British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday evening. The fighter was involved in a car accident near Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Healing from Light Wounds
The boxer had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his management team stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.
Remembering the Victims
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the loss of his two close friends.”
