Arne Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's natural for questions to be asked about his future after a further convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in 12 matches, marking the team's poorest streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a tough night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got a lot of backing from above,” the coach remarked.

“It's important to reverse this trend and secure a win of course but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “In the normal discussions I perceive the belief. But I've not talked to them after this defeat so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Problems and Squad Response

Slot lamented known weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones said.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a period like this with outcomes this poor.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we’re always going to fight.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and it needs to change.”
