American-Palestinian Youth Released Following 270 Days in Israeli Detention

An Palestinian-American adolescent having endured nine months in imprisonment by Israel absent formal charges gained freedom.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old during his detention this past winter within the occupied West Bank, where he was visiting on holiday from Florida under suspicion of rock throwing against settlement residents, which he previously denied.

United States authorities said it welcomed the news of Mohammed's release.

Mohammed, now 16, was taken to hospital upon gaining freedom, according to close relatives.

In a statement, Mohammed's uncle expressed the family's "overwhelming sense of relief".

Family member Zeyad Kadur said the family had been "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" during the entire detention period.

"At this moment, we are focused on ensuring Mohammed receives urgent medical care necessary for his recovery following exposure to harsh conditions and inhumane conditions throughout his detention."

The state department stated they would maintain to offer diplomatic assistance to Mohammed's family.

{"American leadership gives utmost importance to the protection and welfare of American nationals"," it added.

Twenty-seven US lawmakers submitted a formal letter to diplomatic officials and the administration, requesting additional efforts to secure his release.

Mohammed's parent, with four children managing a frozen treats business from Florida, previously claimed his son only confessed regarding stone throwing due to physical abuse.

He had not seen nor direct contact since the arrest, receiving updates exclusively regarding the treatment via legal paperwork.

The teenager remained absent formal charges at Ofer detention facility throughout the occupied territory.

The facility also contains adult prisoners, including individuals found guilty for major terrorist activities including killings.

Approximately several hundred young Palestinian detainees currently imprisoned in Israel, based on prison authority data.

Numerous remain uncharged and human rights groups, including UN bodies, report instances of abuse and torture.

After the teenager's freedom, Mr Kadur said they would maintain their efforts for justice for his cousin Sayfollah Musallet.

The 20-year-old dual US citizen who the Palestinian health ministry said died from beating by radical settlers following tensions last July.

At the time, military authorities reported authorities were looking into information regarding a civilian had died.

The two cousins collaborated in the family ice cream shop based in Florida.

No charges have been filed regarding Sayfollah's death.

"We demand the American government to ensure our family's safety," Mr Kadur said.
